This year's discussion focuses on the key documents Jefferson authored which detail his conception of how government interacts with religion. His Letters to the Danbury Baptists and the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom more forcefully express his understanding of the separation of church and state. Last to be discussed are Jefferson's guiding principles in the creation of the University of Virginia, an institution which represents his religious thought.
